This paper presents a research on analysis and conduction to select the optimal variation to reduce the weight of the semi-trailer frame manufactured in Vietnam by the finite element analysis method. Some optimal proposes the structure to achieve the goal of reducing the weight the chassis frames including altering the material property, frame rail cross section’s dimension or lightening holes, ... according to maximum stress and deformation within the frame under typically loading conditions by using the finite element analysis method. The results of some case studies to evaluate the durability of the frame under vertical, torsional and bending loading in static scenarios by numerical simulation. The most lightweight-effective method was discussed to find out the proper method which is suitable for heavy-duty truck frame as well as semi-trailer frame matching producing conditions in Vietnam.
